He tailors his presentations to each age group, restoring hope and joy; instilling belief, confidence, and compassion; motivating and inspiring all ages to turn their dreams into visions so that their visions can become a reality. The impact Aubrey has on students is life changing. They will be talking about the experience for years to come. You Will Make It! You Got This! You Are Not Alone!2020 has been a difficult time for many. My condolences goes out to those who have lost a loved one to the virus or as a result of the actions created by the response to the virus. It has been challenging. But the great thing is that there is no challenge that we can't overcome. Humanity is resilient. We have made it through many events in history and we will make it this time too. Be encouraged and flap those wings and fly just like the characters in my books.
Testimonial Feb 26, 2021Dear Aubrey, On behalf of the Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Toronto and the It Takes A Village (ITAV) Committee, I am sending this personal heartfelt thank you and show of gratitude to you for Wednesday’s storytelling presentation. Thank you for taking the time to spend the hour with us. The kids really enjoyed your stories and loved the songs. In fact, the kids and youth are asking for your books and you left us all wanting more and anticipating books 4 and 5. We know how busy you are, and how challenging it was for you to squeeze us into your schedule this month, so please know how grateful we are to you for doing this for us. Again, we thank you, thank you, thank you. We were so honoured to have you. Created an amazing introductory video for my presentation. The children were brilliant. Thank you to the parents for allowing me to use the video. A special thank you to Linda Bush and her daughter Makayla for championing the cause and inviting me to address inclusion and diversity. Note from author Aubrey Clarke:
So many people have been limited by the lack of accomplishments of their parents and those before them. If we didn't see our moms or dads achieve a goal then we don't believe that we can.
To take it a little further, if a person hasn't seen another of their gender, ethnicity or race achieve success, then they don't believe that they can. Friends will tell them over and over again that they believe in them but they have to believe in themselves. The battle is in the mind. Free your mind and you can free yourself.
The book "Fly Little Blackbird Fly" will inspire you and your children to reach for your dreams. It addresses many issues that children face in a very subtle and inspiring way.
Ms. Blackbird is a single mom who used to fly high but neglected to share that with her daughter. Maybe it was because she didn't want to face her new disability. Not sharing that information created a disability in her daughter's mind. She also faced the loss of another child at birth. This book doesn't address these issues with Ms. Blackbird, it focus on Joy's journey.
Stayed tuned for the sequel that will explore a little more about Ms. Blackbird and what happened to the egg that didn't hatch.
Level: Grade JK-6 but teens and adults have also been inspired
